The power of the Olkiluoto-3 EPR nuclear plant in Finland has been increased to beyond 950 MW, which means the 1,600-MW unit is now the largest power generation unit in the country in terms of power output.
Plant owner and operator Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) said that according to the production plan, the next step towards full commercial operation is a load change test.
The test involves decreasing the power to around 300 MW for tests to be carried out on the reactor and turbine side. Those tests include ensuring the functioning of the evaporator water level controls.
