US nuclear startup Antares has received a documented safety analysis for its Mark-0 demonstrator facility from the Department of Energy (DOE), marking a major milestone before attaining startup approval for its reactor.
The company aims to achieve criticality for its reactor before 4 July this year in line with targets set by the Trump administration.
Following the documented safety analysis, Antares can begin the readiness review process, the final phase before the DOE approves the reactor’s startup.
A documented safety analysis documents the hazards, risks and safety basis of a nuclear facility, ensuring it can operate, shut down, and be decommissioned in compliance with regulations. It identifies potential accidents and controls to prevent them.
