Switzerland-based small modular reactor (SMR) project company Deep Atomic and Parker Tide, which provides services to US federal government clients, have submitted a “groundbreaking” proposal to the US Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy outlining the development of a fully integrated, nuclear-powered AI data-centre campus at Idaho National Laboratory (INL).
Deep Atomic said the initiative brings together a consortium for what is expected to become the reference model for next-generation digital and energy infrastructure in the US.
The proposal features an integrated energy and AI data centre campus. The idea is to use a phased approach that would see data centre operations begin within 24-36 months on existing INL grid power, geothermal and solar power, while Deep Atomic’s MK60 SMR proceeds through design certification, fabrication and commissioning.
