Poland’s state-owned nuclear project developer Polskie Elektrownie Jadrowe (PEJ) has received a letter of intent from Canada’s export credit agency for a loan worth nearly 6 billion zloty (€1.41bn, $1.45bn) for the three-unit Lubiatowo-Kopalino nuclear power station project on the country’s Baltic coast.

PEJ said the Export Development Canada (EDC) agency’s letter of intent follows similar commitments from US institutions, including the Export-Import Bank of the United States and the International Development Finance Corporation (FDC), which collectively offered letters of intent for a total amount of about 75 billion zloty.

“We are pleased to see strong interest in our investment project from leading players in the global financial market,” said Piotr Piela, vice-president of PEJ.
