Specialists at Russia’s AEM-Spetsstal plant have begun forging the metallurgical blanks from which they will produce components of the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) for Unit 2 at the planned Paks II nuclear power station project in Hungary.

State nuclear corporation Rosatom said the operation took place in the presence of representatives from Paks II in Hungary. AEM-Spetsstal is a Rosatom subsidiary.

Gergely Jáklí, president and chief executive officer of Paks II, said the production of long-cycle equipment for the Paks II project is “running smoothly” and has involved Hungarian specialists in areas including design control, licensing and production control.
