Russia’s state nuclear energy corporation Rosatom wants a licence to build a small modular reactor with construction beginning in 2024 at one of two potential sites.Rusatom Overseas, a Rosatom subsidiary, said in an online news article that the plant would be in the range of 50 MW to 75 MW and it could begin commercial operation in 2027. Plants could be combined to give facilities of about 300 MW, depending on what a customer needs, the article said. “The options are aimed at large industrial consumers such as mining and processing complexes, which need stable generation for several decades,” Rusatom Overseas said.
