Most Filipinos support the construction of a commercial nuclear power plant in the Philippines as a potential answer to the country’s twin problems of precarious supply and Southeast Asia’s highest electricity costs, a poll by Publicus has shown.
According to the poll, 59% “endorse” or “strongly approve” of the construction of a nuclear power plant in the archipelago nation of more than 7,000 islands, many without reliable access to electricity.
The poll said 22% “disapprove” or “categorically disapprove” of new nuclear.
