New York-based Standard Power, a hosting provider for high performance computer companies, has announced plans to work with reactor company NuScale to develop two small modular reactor-powered facilities that will together produce nearly 2 GW of energy to power data centres.

The facilities will be in Ohio and Pennsylvania. As the technology provider, NuScale will provide its Voygr SMR technology for these projects, the only SMR technology that has received design approval from the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Based on Standard Power’s plans for the two facilities, NuScale will provide 24 units of 77 MW each, collectively producing 1,848 MW of energy from both the Ohio and Pennsylvania sites.
