Microreactor developer NuCube Energy has said it has received a $25m (€22m) investment from the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (Aidea) and has also signed an agreement with National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan to explore reactor development.
Idaho, US-based NuCube said Aidea has now become a company shareholder and its investment reflected interest in developing the company’s microreactors in remote communities which are largely dependent on fossil fuels.
NuCube said the investment would help fund the development of its NuSun fission microreactor, a 15 MW heat-pipe cooled reactor that will be factory-built and aims to provide power for 30 years using Triso (TRi-structural ISOtropic) advanced nuclear fuel.
