Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has published a report outlining three potential paths for the country to develop a fusion energy industry deploying both public and private investment.

The report calls for immediate action for the country to become a player in fusion, supported by its strengths in laser technology, radio frequency, advanced materials and robotics.

The ministry also identified the challenges the country faces in building a local fusion industry, including a lack of research infrastructure, shortage of plasma and nuclear experts and the absence of a national regulatory framework.

“The ministry emphasises that the decisions made in the coming years may determine Israel’s position within the global fusion industry for decades to come,” the ministry said in a statement.
