US nuclear company Nano Nuclear Energy has closed an $8m (€7.7m) deal to acquire the major assets of the bankrupt Ultra Safe Nuclear Corporation (USNC), a midsize startup that is developing microreactor technology and advanced nuclear fuel.
New York-based Nano, which is developing its Zeus and Odin microreactors, has acquired select nuclear energy technology assets from USNC and certain of its subsidiaries.
The acquired assets include USNC’s patented Micro Modular Reactor (MMR) system, along with all associated patents and other intellectual property rights.
Nano Nuclear said in a statement that the acquisition brings important demonstration project collaborations related to the MMR system, notably at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
