Copenhagen Atomics, a developer of thorium-fuelled molten salt reactor (MSR) technology, and London-headquartered uranium enrichment company Urenco are collaborating to build a uranium hexafluoride (UF6) deconversion facility in Copenhagen.

Denmark-based Copenhagen Atomics said it has also bought low-enriched uranium (LEU) from Urenco for its first reactors.

It said the existing global supply chain is only able to deliver LEU as UF6, but molten salt reactors require uranium tetrafluoride (UF4).
