Nuclear generation increased by 3.5% in 2021, almost reaching its 2019 levels, and is expected to grow by 1% annually from 2022 to 2024, mostly supported by nuclear generation growth in the Asia Pacific region, a report by the International Energy Agency says.
The Electricity Market Report 2022 says that in 2019, nuclear generated 2,790 TWh of electricity, falling to 2,682 TWh in 2020 before increasing to 2,777 in 2021. In 2024, the figure is expected to be 2,869 TWh.
In the Asia-Pacific region nuclear generation increased from 647 TWh in 2019 to 694 TWh in 2021 and is expected to hit 815 TWh in 2024.
