Nuclear power is set to make a comeback on the global energy scene because of its potential to contribute to energy security and the fight against climate change, Fatih Birol, director-general of the International Energy Agency, said at the opening of the World Nuclear Exhibition in Paris last week.

“Nuclear is coming back politically, economically, and technologically. It is very firm on the agenda unless there are surprises on the side of government or industry,” Mr Birol said in a keynote speech.
