The European Commission has launched a four-week call for evidence as it seeks to clarify and analyse the investment needs and “several key challenges” of the nuclear power sector in the EU.
The commission said in a statement on 15 April that the feedback received from the call for evidence will feed into the its work in preparing the update of the Nuclear Illustrative Programme (Pinc), which is planned for publication before the end of 2025.
The key objective of the Pinc update will be to provide an “up-to-date comprehensive, fact-based overview” of nuclear energy investments across the EU, the commission said.
The Pinc will identify investment trends, needs and challenges in the sector. It will aim to clarify investment needs for both new-build projects and lifetime extensions of existing reactors.
