The construction pit and the foundation have been completed for a new research reactor in the Netherlands, marking a significant step forward and paving the way for the next phase of the project.

NRG Pallas, which is leading the Pallas project, said that together with main contractor FCC and designer ICHOS, it is now restructuring the construction site so that work on the lower section of the reactor, at Petten, about 60 km north of Amsterdam, can begin later this year.

Additionally, preparations are underway for the installation of the cooling water pipeline, which will extract water from the North Holland Canal and discharge it into the sea.

First concrete was poured for the Pallas pit and foundation in May 2023.
