A working group has been set up in Copeland district, Cumbria, to begin local public discussions about the possibility of the region to host a UK centralised deep geological disposal facility (GDF) for radioactive waste.

A statement by the Copeland Working Group (CWG) said that the formation of the group marks the first stage of the search for a suitable site and aims to understand the views of people across Copeland on the proposed facility.
