Westinghouse Electric Company has signed a memorandum of understanding that could lead to its reactor technology being deployed for nuclear new build projects in New Brunswick, Canada.

Under the agreement, signed with the North Shore Mi’kmaq Tribal Council, the initial focus will be on exploring possibilities for the AP300 small modular reactor (SMR) for both grid power and dedicated industrial purposes.

The agreement also covers the investigation of opportunities for Westinghouse’s eVinci microreactor to serve remote communities and industrial sites such as mines.
