US-based Westinghouse Electric Company has a memorandum of understanding with state nuclear company Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (Enec) to explore deployment of the eVinci microreactor in the United Arab Emirates.

The MoU, signed at Cop28 in Dubai, follows a similar agreement on 4 December between Enec and Bill Gates’ advanced nuclear reactor company TerraPower to study the potential commercialisation and global deployment of TerraPower’s Natrium technology.

Westinghouse said the eVinci MoU will allow for joint exploration of technical and commercial deployment in the Emirates and overseas.
