The Netherlands has selected US-based engineering and innovative technology solutions company Amentum to evaluate technical feasibility studies and market consultations submitted by three potential reactor vendors as the country pushes ahead with plans for new nuclear power plants.
As part of its strategy to reduce carbon emissions and strengthen energy security, the Dutch government has announced preliminary plans to build two new pressurised water reactors by 2035 with a total capacity of up to 1,650 MW, enough to meet up to 13% of the country’s electricity needs.
