The Texas A&M University System* has selected four companies to explore developing advanced nuclear power reactors on its Rellis research campus, university officials announced.

Each of the four companies – Kairos Power, Natura Resources, Aalo Atomics and Terrestrial Energy – could potentially build at least one commercial nuclear power plant at Rellis, about nine miles west of Texas in Brazos County.

All four companies are US-based. Kairos Power is developing advanced fluoride salt-cooled high-temperature reactor (KP-FHR) technology. Natura’s technology is the MSR-10 molten salt reactor and Aalo is developing factory-manufactured nuclear reactors that will it says power anything from a small data centres to a large city. Terrestrial Energy is developing the Integral Molten Salt Reactor, or IMSR.
