Bulgaria has notified Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom that it will postpone the tender to choose an investor for the construction of the two-unit Belene nuclear power station because of the coronavirus pandemic, state-run news agency Tass reported.

“Today we received an official notification from the Bulgarian side that, due to the coronavirus epidemic, the timing of the procedure for selecting a strategic investor for the Belene project is being delayed,” Tass quoted a Rosatom spokesman as saying.

Last month the Bulgarian government said it was likely to push back the deadline because of the pandemic.
