New unit is part of Moscow's plans to close the nuclear fuel cycle
The Siberian Chemical Combine has signed a $412m contract with engineering company Titan-2 for construction and installation work for the Brest-OD-300 lead-cooled fast-neutron reactor.Titan-2, the general contractor for a number of new-build projects including Hanhikivi in Finland and Akkuyu in Turkey, will be responsible for construction of the reactor hall, turbine hall and related infrastructure, Russian nuclear fuel company Tvel said in a statement. SCC is a subsidiary of Tvel. Both organisations are part of Russia’s state nuclear company RosatomTvel said the Brest unit, to be built at SCC, near the city of Seversk in central Russia. is scheduled for completion at the end of 2026.
