Russia has announced plans to build new facility for processing uranium and uranium-molybdenum ores from the Argunskoye and Zherlovoe uranium deposits as it seeks to meet domestic and global markets for nuclear fuel.
The two deposits are part of the Streltsovsky uranium ore district near Krasnokamensk, more than 6,000 km from Moscow in Russia’s far east, which is one of the largest volcanic-hosted uranium clusters globally.
The facility will be at the Priargunsky Production Mining and Chemical Association in Krasnokamensk. The Priargunsky Production Mining and Chemical Association is part of state nuclear corporation Rosatom’s mining division.
