Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom is planning to build two new reactor units at the Novovoronezh nuclear station, company head Aleksey Likhachev told reporters, according to press reports.

According to state news agency Tass, Mr Likhachev said construction of the two units at the facility in Voronezh Oblast, central Russia, will begin in the 2030s.

The Novovoronezh nuclear site has four nuclear power plants in commercial operation and three that have been permanently shut down. The last plant to begin commercial operation at the site was Novovoronezh 2-2 in October 2019.
