Hungary’s nuclear regulator said “further evaluation and analysis is needed in some areas” before it can issue permits for the planned construction of two new reactors at the Paks nuclear power station.
After a 15-month-review of the construction documentation for two planned Russia-supplied reactors at the new Paks 2 station, Hungary’s Atomic Energy Authority said the application was thorough in several respects, but it would seek additional information from the company managing the project, Paks II Atomeromu Zrt, before granting approval.
The NAEA had already extended the review period, which began when the licence application was submitted in June 2020, by three months to September 2021.
