An agreement will be signed between the governments of the US and Poland “in the near future” which will mean Poland be able to move forward with the introduction of a civilian nuclear power programme, Poland’s president Andrzej Duda said.

At a press conference following a meeting with US president Donald Trump in the White House , Mr Duda said “the entities which will participate in this project have already been selected, and the agreements are very advanced on the Polish side”.

Mr Duda gave no details of the exact nature of the agreement, but said “an appropriate intergovernmental agreement is about to be concluded – finalised. We can expect that to happen in the near future.”
