Czech nuclear project company Elektrárna Dukovany II (Edu II) has confirmed it has received amended bids for new nuclear power plants from France’s EDF and South Korea’s Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) with the aim of finalising contracts ready for signing by 31 March 2025.
In a post on the business-focused social media site LinkedIn, Edu II chairman and chief executive officer Petr Zavodsky said the target date for start of trial operation of the first new unit is 2036 with commercial operation in 2038.
“Elektrarna Dukovany II, a. s. (EDU II) has received amended bids for New Nuclear Build from EDF and KHNP,” Zavodsky said.
“We will now assess the two offers – using a system based on International Atomic Energy Agency recommendations – from an economic, commercial and technical point of view and submit an evaluation report to the Czech government’s trade and industry ministry.”
