Finnish nuclear waste management organisation Posiva will test its spent nuclear fuel repository in a trial run for final disposal this summer for the first time, it was announced at the annual Nordic Nuclear Forum taking place in Helsinki 21-22 May.

This follows a company statement from 3 May that “the finishing works in Posiva’s underground facilities continue without interruptions in May”.

The recently completed building services engineering systems have been tested to verify that none of them will cause a hindrance to the trial run for final disposal, which will start in August, according to the statement.
