Poland’s state nuclear project company Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) has received a capital injection of 4.6bn zloty (€1.08bn, $1.2bn) as state aid for construction of the country’ first commercial nuclear power station.
PEJ said the funds, received on 30 December 2025, were in the form of treasury bonds and are for state shares in PEJ’s increased share capital.
It said the state aid will ensure stable funding for the next stage of the nuclear project to build three Westinghouse-supplied AP1000 reactor units near the villages of Lubiatowo and Kopalino, on the Baltic coast to the northwest of Gdansk, in the northern province of Pomerania.
The funding will enable the continuation of design and engineering work under the engineering development agreement (EDA).
