Poland has begun its assessment of the design documentation for the Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear power plant technology to be used at the country’s first commercial nuclear power station.

Project company Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) said it submitted the documentation to the Office of Technical Inspection (Urzad Dozoru Technicznego or UDT).

At this stage the UDT will review documents including reference documents, technical drawings and calculations, PEJ said.

If the UDT approves the design documentation, production of equipment for the nuclear project can begin.
