The US fleet of 96 commercial nuclear power plants generated a record 809.4 million MWh of electricity in 2019, the highest since the birth of commercial nuclear power in 1957, the Washington-based Nuclear Energy Institute said in a report.
In 2018 generation was 807.1 million MWh and in 2017 it was 805 million MWh.
The 2019 figure represents nearly 20% of all electricity generation with 38.4% for natural gas, 23.5% for coal, 7.3% for wind and 6.8% for hydro.
