The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has fined the owners of the Oyster Creek nuclear power station in New Jersey for security-related violations – the second such fine in as many months.

The NRC said it had issued a confirmatory order to Holtec Decommissioning International following an alternative dispute resolution mediation session regarding security-related violations at Oyster Creek, which Florida-based Holtec is decommissioning.

Holtec has agreed on a series of corrective actions that the NRC will confirm during forthcoming inspections at the facility. Following completion of the corrective actions, the NRC will issue a civil penalty of $50,000 for the violations, which is a reduction from the base civil penalty of $150,000.
