European advanced reactor developer Newcleo has completed installation of the main vessel for its Precursor non-nuclear test facility at the Brasimone research centre in Italy, the company said.

Newcleo said Precursor is a 10-MWt non-nuclear demonstrator for its planned commercial lead-cooled fast reactors (LFRs).

The Precursor main vessel is the non-nuclear equivalent of the vessel for LFRs and will host key systems including steam generators, decay heat removal dip coolers, the inner vessel and the electrical core simulator.
