Bulgaria’s government has designated the proposed construction of a new nuclear plant at the country’s existing Kozloduy site the status of a project of national importance, a statement by the cabinet said.

The statement said that the new status of the project at Kozloduy, which is expected to host one or two Westinghouse-made AP1000 pressurised water reactor units, will help prioritise the new-build project and will significantly facilitate administrative procedures related to planning.
