The newly appointed chair of Australia’s Minerals Council has become the latest business leader to call for nuclear power to be considered as part of Australia’s future energy mix, pushing the suitability of small modular reactors.Helen Coonan, a former minister in the government of John Howard, said the “nuclear option” should be on the table, along with renewables, as the resources industry edges away from fossil fuels in the coming decades.
