Russia has installed the third and final tier of the enclosing structure in the reactor shaft the Brest-OD-300 pilot demonstration power plant in Seversk, southwest Siberia.
State nuclear corporation Rosatom said in a statement that the total weight of the three-tier enclosing structure is about 430 tonnes and it has a height of 17 metres. The final tier weighs 164 tonnes.
The statement said workers will next assemble the cooling system pipelines and an intermediate shell in the shaft. The newly formed cavity will be filled with heat-resistant concrete.
