The 225-tonne steel component is part of the reactor building’s hermetic protection system, designed to withstand high external and internal pressures and protect against radiation release.
According to CGN, there will be six domestic Hualong One pressurised water reactor units at the Taipingling site
Construction so far began for the first two units, Taipingling-1 and -2, in December 2019 and October 2020.
The Hualong One, or HPR1000, is an indigenous 1,100 MW, three-loop pressurised water reactor. It incorporates elements of China National Nuclear Corporation’s ACP1000 and CGN’s ACPR1000+ reactor designs.
China has 10 Hualong One units under construction at five sites – two at each of the Zhangzhou, Taipingling, Fangchenggang, Changjiang and Sanaocun (Zhejiang Sanao) sites.
