Installation has been completed of the inner containment dome for Unit 2 of the of the Rooppur nuclear power station under construction in Bangladesh, Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom said.
The steel component is part of the reactor building’s hermetic protection system, designed to withstand high external and internal pressures and protect against radiation release. It weighs 195 tonnes and has a diameter of 34 metres.
