Hitachi Announces ‘Metaverse’ Platform That Can Improve Nuclear Plant Construction And Maintenance
Access to nuclear power plants is often restricted by regulations, limiting the opportunities to prepare for construction and maintenance work.

Japan-based Hitachi has announced the development of a new virtual reality “metaverse” platform for nuclear power plants that uses metaverse and AI technology to streamline operations and help with construction, maintenance and decommissioning.

The platform recreates nuclear power plants in a metaverse and can improve information sharing, schedule coordination and asset management by being shared with partners such as electric utilities and contractors, Hitachi said.

The platform streamlines operations such as design, onsite construction, maintenance and asset management by sharing a digital twin of a nuclear plant with electric utilities and partners such as contractors.
