The Bulgarian government has no plans to continue the long-suspended two-unit Belene nuclear new build project, but will instead consider the option of deploying new reactor units at the existing Kozloduy site, prime minister Kiril Petkov told local TV station BTV.

Mr Petkov said Belene, which led to Sofia losing an international arbitration case to Russia over nuclear equipment that had already been ordered before the project was suspended, was an example of money which was spent unreasonably on “wrong” projects.
