Government Adopts Draft Law On Cernavodă New-Build Plans
Romania wants to build two more reactors at the existing Cernavodă nuclear power station site.
A draft law on the agreement to build two new commercial reactors at the Cernavodă nuclear power station in southeast Romania has been adopted by the government, meaning parliament will now debate the planned legislation.

“It is a very important law, which I hope will be adopted as soon as possible by my colleagues in the parliament, in order to move forward with the project of the new units from Cernavodă,” energy minister Virgil Popescu said in a statement.

Parliament will now have to approve the agreement signed between the state and Cernavodă’s operator, state-run Nuclearelectrica.
