Four of Europe’s leading nuclear technology organisations have formed a consortium whose goal is to develop Eagles-300, a next-generation lead-cooled small modular reactor (SMR) that could be commercialised and deployed globally in 2039.
The four organisations are Italian construction engineering company Ansaldo Nucleare, Italian research and development agency Enea, Romanian nuclear research and development company Raten, and SCK CEN, the Belgian nuclear research centre.
A joint statement said the establishment of the Eagles consortium reaffirms that the project remains on track to deliver its first demonstrator by 2035, marking a crucial step forward in the development and commercialisation of the Eagles-300 nuclear plant.
