The European Commission has opened a second call for projects under the European Industrial Alliance on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).

The call, published on 6 July, aims to select a limited number of additional projects that can contribute to the alliance’s objective of developing and deploying the first SMR projects in Europe in the early 2030s.

The deadline for applications is 11 September 2026, with proposals to be reviewed in September and October. The commission said results are expected by the end of October.
