EDF Lowers Nuclear Estimate After Outage Extensions

France-state-owned utility and nuclear plant operator EDF has revised its nuclear output estimate from 330-360 TWh to 300-330 TWh for 2022.

The company said the revision is the result of the extension of the outage period for five of its French nuclear plants – Civaux-1, Civaux-2, Chooz B-1, Chooz-B-2 and Penly-1.

The outage extensions resulted from preventive maintenance checks at Civaux-1, which revealed faults close to the welds on the pipes of the safety injection system circuit. The other plants were checked for similar problems.
