France’s state power company EDF is continuing an inspection programme related to the discover of stress corrosion in some of its nuclear power plants, but said it does not anticipate any new reactor shutdowns.

The company said in a statement that 12 reactors, currently shut down, are affected by stress corrosion and stress corrosion testing.

The presence of corrosion has been confirmed in piping circuits at the Civaux-1, Chooz-1, Penly-1 and Chinon B-3 plants.

Checks and investigations are continuing at eight other prioritised reactors: Bugey-3, Bugey-4, Cattenom-3, Civaux-2, Chooz-2, Flamanville-1, Flamanville-2 and Golfech-1.
