The Czech government has said that nuclear will provide the “pillar of stability” in its energy framework and that it will prepare the groundwork for the development of small modular reactors (SMRs).

In the Czech Government’s policy programme released at the start of 2026, the government said: “We will support energy self-sufficiency, the modernisation of transmission networks and the development of nuclear energy as a pillar of stability.”
