UK-based Chiltern Vital Group (CVG) and Cambridge Atomworks have signed a letter of intent to carry out research and development into Cambridge Atomworks’ Odin nuclear microreactor at the planned Berkeley Green Science and Technology Park in Gloucestershire, southwest England.

Chiltern Vital Berkeley (CVB), the CVG subsidiary that owns and is developing the Berkeley project, said it is in final stage negotiations with multiple nuclear and energy technology companies wishing to open facilities on the Berkeley Green site.

CVB has announced its intention to create a low-carbon technology “super cluster” at the site, and develop it into a centre of excellence for nuclear power R&D.
