A consortium led by the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) has been awarded a major contract for Tokamak machine assembly at the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (Iter) under construction at Cadarache in southern France.CNNC said it has won the TAC1 contract, which is the biggest nuclear energy project contract that Chinese companies have ever bid for on the European market.According to Iter, the TAC1 assembly contract covers the cryostat and cryostat thermal shield, magnet feeders, the central solenoid, poloidal field and correction coil magnets, and cooling structures and instrumentation.
