Poland’s General Directorate for Environmental Protection (GDOS) has issued a decision outlining the environmental report requirements for the deployment of a BWRX-300 small modular reactor (SMR) plant at Stawy Monowskie, in the southern Malopolska region, marking progress in the conuntry’s nuclear energy ambitions.

Project owner Orlen Synthos Green Energy (OSGE) announced the decision and said the directorate has specified the areas that the environmental report must address, including a nature inventory, identification of cooling water sources, technological solutions for nuclear safety and radiological protection, and integration with the power transmission grid.
